Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Assembly Technician to assemble heavy equipment and machinery used in the construction and foundation industries. In this hands-on role, you will work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components to build equipment according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience assembling heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or similar mechanical systems. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

As an Assembly Technician, you will play an important role in ensuring our equipment is assembled correctly, safely, and to the high-quality standards our customers expect.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 3+ years of mechanical assembly experience in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, technical documents, and work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and/or transport 50+ pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry (CFR 1910) certification preferred but can be obtained after hire.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience assembling heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience assembling and installing hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hoses, and related components.
  • Basic hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Experience using torque tools and following established torque specifications and assembly procedures.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Excavator or other heavy equipment experience is a plus.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.

 

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both indoor manufacturing environments and outdoor areas. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, fumes, oils, solvents, adhesives, paints, and other materials commonly found in a heavy equipment manufacturing environment.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, crouch, reach, lift, and use their hands to operate tools and equipment.

Employees must be able to lift and/or transport 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

APE is hiring a Logistics & Freight Specialist in Conroe, Texas, to coordinate domestic and international freight across our operations.

This position coordinates standard, heavy-haul, oversized, and international freight; manages related purchase orders and documentation; and works with billing and branch teams to resolve freight issues. Practical trucking and freight experience are essential.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Book and coordinate domestic and international freight, including heavy equipment and oversized loads
  • Select carriers and brokers, obtain quotes, and negotiate freight rates
  • Confirm equipment requirements, routing, permits, and delivery details
  • Create, track, and reconcile freight purchase orders and accounts
  • Work with billing and accounting to resolve billed, unbilled, or incorrectly charged freight
  • Coordinate transportation of down or out-of-service equipment between branches, customers, and repair facilities
  • Track shipments and communicate delays, changes, and delivery issues
  • Maintain accurate freight records in company systems
  • Prepare reports identifying freight costs, recurring equipment moves, and branch-level trends

Service Technician (Heavy Equipment)

American Piledriving Equipment (APE) is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Service Technician to maintain, diagnose, repair, and prepare specialized piledriving equipment for our customers and field operations.

This is not an entry-level mechanical position. We are looking for someone who has worked on heavy equipment, diesel equipment, construction machinery, industrial equipment, or similar machinery and is comfortable diagnosing problems and completing repairs with limited supervision.

The right person is dependable, takes ownership of their work, communicates well, keeps an organized work area, and understands that equipment needs to be repaired correctly and ready when promised.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, diesel, and electrical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs.
  • Identify the root cause of equipment failures rather than simply replacing parts.
  • Read and use hydraulic and electrical schematics, service information, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Prepare equipment for customer jobs and confirm that repairs have been completed properly before equipment is released.
  • Maintain accurate service, inspection, parts, and repair records.
  • Communicate repair status, parts requirements, and equipment issues clearly to management and other team members.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and safe work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable industry requirements.
  • Travel to customer or job sites when necessary and assist with field troubleshooting and repairs.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience repairing heavy equipment, diesel equipment, construction equipment, industrial machinery, or comparable equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and take a repair from diagnosis through completion.
  • Proven reliability, attendance, and ability to manage work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repairs and communicate when deadlines or equipment needs change.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in a shop and outdoor environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites when required.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Diesel engine experience.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Welding/fabrication experience.
  • Previous field-service experience.
  • Experience working on cranes, pile-driving equipment, foundation equipment, drilling equipment, or other large construction machinery.

You do not need previous piledriving-equipment experience. APE will train an experienced technician on our specialized equipment and systems.

American Piledriving Equipment (APE) is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the Mid-Atlantic Service Department. This position is responsible for directing daily shop and field service operations, developing a team of skilled technicians, and ensuring our customers receive safe, reliable, and high-quality equipment every time.

This is a leadership position for someone who thrives on organization, accountability, and continuous improvement. While technical knowledge of heavy equipment is important, success in this role depends on your ability to lead people, prioritize work, communicate effectively, and drive operational excellence.

As Service Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Service Department, including:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Service Technicians.
  • Plan and prioritize shop workflow to meet customer commitments.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected, repaired, tested, and ready for service before delivery.
  • Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and workmanship.
  • Coordinate field service activities and technician scheduling.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
