APE is again called to duty in Northern Manitoba. A couple of years ago, APE did a 5000 pile job for a 3,000 man camp at Keeyask, where we showcased some of our pre-drilling capabilities. Now it is the converter station at Keewatinohk, where we are pre-drilling the seasonal frost, discontinues permafrost, and some Canadian shield with our latest achievement in drilling technology, the “Polar Penetrator.” This patented drag bit allows high pressure air to eject cuttings out of the hole as soon as they are loose, typically at least twice if not three times faster than conventional tools. This drilling technique, along with the “down hole” accessories , allows APE’s HD program to stay in the lead on today’s helical pile market.

The “SMACK DOWN” New APE D70-52

APE D70-52 Diesel Hammer

D70-52 driving pile in Saskatchewan for KSPC

K+S Potash Canada (KSPC) is building a potash handling and storage facility at Port Moody, British Columbia. Potash products arriving by rail from the Saskatchewan-based mine will be stored on site and transported to vessels destined for K+S Group’s international clients. There was roughly 700 driven pipe pile ranging from 24” to 36” that needed to be driven. Keller Foundations opted to go with the APE D70-52 as their work horse for the majority of these pile. This 7.0 metric ton ram is pound for pound the hardest hitting hammer out there today, and its new octagon design allows for better cooling and larger fuel capacity, making hard driving jobs……just a little easier.

Going APE for Iron Dog

This year, American Piledriving Equipment is sponsoring a snowmobile team in the 2015 Iron Dog Snowmobile Race – the world’s longest and toughest snowmobile competition. The race is over 2,000 miles long, and parts of the race follow the famous Iditarod Trail. The race begins at Big Lake (near Anchorage), heads west to Nome, then doubles back eastward and finishes in Fairbanks.

APE is sponsoring Team 56 in the race. The Team 56 riders are Bernie Droege and Mark Ivy, both lifetime Alaskans. The drivers are on two-sled teams for safety as they travel through remote areas of the Alaskan Wilderness. In total, the race lasts about one week.

APE is Breaking the Mold on Traditional Drill Tools

APE has had a long lasting commitment to discovering new ways to benefit the foundation market and the needs of our customers. After extensive R&D we are excited to release the Polar Penetrator series of specialized drill bits. These bits are designed to be run with air that is fed through cutouts in the bits base, the air is ushered through these ports to the cutter face in order keep the cutting plain clear and working hard to reach your final depth. The Polar Penetrator bits can make quick work of frozen dense clays and tundra, as well as tightly consolidated silts and sands of drier climates. These bits will counteract the balling effect that plugs up other forms of drilling and will show less wear due to the quick evacuation of the cuttings away from the teeth. Not to cut short the advantages presented by the traditional CFA, Drag, Tri-cone and Pressure Digger bits, but this bit will add a formidable tool to your arsenal in the war against unforgiving soils. APE’s HD line of drills are a great option to run these bits coupled with our custom Quickloc Drill Stems.

Please take a moment CLICK HERE view the attached link to find out more about APE’s new addition to our foundation and drilling tools.

APE China’s first 400 built in China get’s the job done!

APE China (Shanghai ZhenLi) has sent it’s first model 400 hammer that was built in China to a job in FuJian province.  The customer had difficult soil conditions with thick clay layers at the top.  They were originally considering excavating out the top layers but when they heard about the APE 400 they decided to give it a try.  Suspense was in the air as many doubted the 400 could drive the 36″ X 72′ long pile to grade, many were utterly convinced the 400 hammer would not be able to drive to the pile all the way down.  After the hammer was lifted on the pile some fireworks were let off to set to scare away the evil spirits, as custom in China, 18 minutes later the pile was to grade!  This marks a milestone for APE China and it’s ability to continue to provide the largest hydraulic vibratory hammers to the China market along with local service and manufacturing.  A 1200 HP engine powers the 400 with option to use 1050HP on easier jobs.  APE China made equipment is only for the Asia pacific region while Kent,WA manufactures for the USA and Europe.  Go APE!

APE Model 600 Vibro Leading the Way

The APE Model 600 Vibratory Driver/Extractor arrived on a site between Edmonton and Calgary for Keller Foundation at a moment’s notice. When our technician from Edmonton, James Berg, arrived on site to lend a hand with set up, we discovered that the hammer was going to be used from a hydraulic squirt boom crane. By simply removing a few of the first stage large elastomers and with some instruction from the APE crew, the driving and extracting progressed along without a hitch. This once again proves the innovation from APE sets us apart from the rest

APE Canada on the Red River

Preset Construction was given the task of stabilizing the Red River bank just south of Winnipeg in the small community of Morris.  The piling ranged from 7’ to 10’ diameter and from 40’ to 60’ long.  As we approached this project the concern was not driving the cans, as they were predrilled 100%.  The concern was extraction, as the clay material just above the till lens was very cohesive.  With the APE two stage suppressor capable of 180 tons of line pull, we were able to prove ourselves again even in the hard climate, as the industry leader in vibratory technology.

Neither Snow, nor More Snow, nor even More Snow…

Can stop King Kong from helping Aldridge Electric drive 9.5ft and 10.5ft diameter casing to grade for power line project in snowy and bitterly cold northern New England.

The nature of power line construction is that time is of the essence and the jobsite does not shut down for inconveniences like a foot of snow. Knowing that, Aldridge chooses APE and the reliability they have come to know and trust, as well as the knowledge that if something does go wrong, a foot of snow will not keep APE personnel from being on site and doing whatever it takes…

Chris  is a 10 year veteran of the piledriving industry with experience from the ground up.

Chris served as a service technician in the corporate office for a few years before moving to our Missouri facility to take on the role of service manager.

His years as service manager in Missouri prepared him for his next role with APE as our California Service Manager where his skills and abilities took him to the next level of greatness.

After the passing of our friend and Vice President, Dave Yingling, a void needed to be filled and after serving APE California for 20 years Steve Cress stepped up and assumed responsibilities as the new Vice President of APE and moved to Washington to apply his 30 years of piledriving knowledge on a new level of excellence.

Chris Corp, in turn, stepped up his role from California Service Manager to California Western Division Branch Manager and assumed responsibilities to keep our California branch running smooth and strong.

Chris has brought a fresh new drive to the California branch and hit the ground running to meet the needs of our customers.

With Chris at the helm of the California branch and the backing of APE corporate, expect to see great things in 2014 out of our Western Division.

Please help me welcome Chris Corp! Go get em Tiger!
